The 2011 Wedding Trends, Courtesy of the Wedding Salon & SouthAsianSource.com

THE WEDDING SALON REVEALS THE ULTIMATE TRENDS
FOR 2011 FROM THE LEADING NAMES IN BRIDAL
Earthy-Tones, Gorgeous Woodwork, Larger–than-Life Centerpieces,
Aerial Performers and Pop Art Sculptures will be amongst the hottest trends for 2011

New York, NY (November, 2010) --- Brides' fantasy weddings came to life at The Wedding Salon at Manhattan Center Studios. The Wedding Salon showcased new elements in weddings for 2011 including aerial performers and pop art sculptures that capture the personalities of the fun-loving bride and groom.

"We were thrilled to showcase some of the most over-the-top and never-before seen trends in weddings at The
Wedding Salon!  Manhattan Center Studios came to life with over 3000 brides, joined by some of the top names in the industry including Sylvia Weinstock, David Beahm, Michelle Rago, Shawn Rabideau andColin Cowie," says Wedding Salon Founder and renowned Celebrity Event Planner, Tatiana Byron.

The ultimate trend for 2011 weddings will be new forms of entertainment and visual displays. Brides will look for that out-of-the-box element to surprise their guests whether it is aerial performers dancing from the ceiling above the dance floor, or walking chandeliers that greet guests on sky-high stilts. Brides will look for never-before seen elements for their wedding days.

Earthy tones will be all the rage in table décor. Shawn Rabideau of Bravo’s Bethenny Getting Married reveals that natural table displays with sky-high branches and unique accents such as tulip bulbs and floral combining elements of all four seasons, will be a huge trend for the year ahead.  Michelle Rago, revealed that brides will opt for less linen opting for gorgeous farm tables with a classic linen runner, letting the beauty of the wood shine through. Brides will look to nature for gorgeous accents whether it is seashell bouquets for a destination wedding or mason jars filled with seashells for centerpieces, accented with candles.

The team behind Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas’ weddingdavid beahm design, created an elaborate table display with sand-blasted grapevine, This larger-than-life wooden cage-like centerpiece dripping with all-white orchids, roses and peonies took on a new play on wooden centerpieces showing that wooden structures will be used in new ways in the year ahead. Beahm additionally, predicts an alternative to chiavari chairs for 2011 by opting for porcelain woodland stumps, straight from the scene of a Disney classic.

Brides will additionally look to pop art by choosing massive structures and sculptures to enhance their décor and wedding lounges, such as Mark Tamayo’s “Heart Sculpture” with “Katy Loves Russell” inscribed in homage to the most recent celebrity wedding. Brides will opt for playful favors such as Venetian Masks that will showcase places they’ve traveled together or where they will honeymoon.

10 Cinderella Hair Care Tips to Consider for the Big Day

10 Cinderella Hair Care & Style Tips for your Night at the Ball
Tip#1:  TRIM, TRIM, TRIM! Many brides think that they should start worrying about the length of their hair a year before the wedding and they stop trimming it in hopes that it will grow long enough for a decent hairstyle. Continue to trim every 2 months, this will promote hair growth and split ends and keep the “frizzies” and “fly aways” at bay.
Tip#2:  TREAT ME RIGHT! Start using a shampoo/conditioning line that has a Ceramide Infusion system that penetrates the hair shaft, helps to replace lost lipids and moisture, rebuilding damaged hair/chemical/color treated hair. This will ensure those glamorous locks you have always imagined.
Tip#3: COLOR! If you are planning on coloring your hair, you should not make any major hair color changes before your wedding. Girl, DO NOT try out a new color now. Wait until you are back from your honeymoon. What you can do is slightly brighten your shade to help give you that wedding glow. Add more chocolate to brown hair, more gold to blond hair, and more copper to red hair. Book your color appointment two weeks before your wedding. The last two weeks before the wedding will fly by. You will be happy your color is done and off your check list. If you highlight your hair, be sure to have a full head of highlights for your wedding. This way there will be no two toned surprises, no matter how you style your hair or how the wind blows.
Tip#4: KERATIN?! Go for it but with a little caution! Opt for a formaldehyde-free formula. Most widely know is the  HYPERLINK "http://www.brazilianblowout.com" Brazilian Blowout. These treatments actually work, and allow you to wash your hair immediately after the process while still obtaining the desired results.  Compared to the formaldehyde counterparts, these are a lot safer for your health! This treatment only lasts about 10-12 weeks. Plan accordingly for your big day! Whether it is formaldehyde-free or not, all of these products still contain some chemicals just like soaps, shampoos, nail polish, detergents, cleaning agents, hair dye and other products so always read the labels and take precautions.
Tip#5: CLIP IT ON! Clip in extensions are the way to go for adding volume/length is a SNAP! Clip-in extensions are instant and can be attached easily eliminating the need to spend hundreds of dollars at a  HYPERLINK "http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4564324_clipin-hair-extensions-work.html" \t "_blank" hair salon. They can be removed at any time, and cause the least amount of damage to your hair. They can be straightened, curled and styled as easily as natural hair. The biggest con to clip-ins, however, is that the small micro-clips can be visible if your hair shifts or gets blown by the wind. Another fact to watch out for is that clip-in extensions may fall off if you're not careful. Depending on the hair style, they can be theperfect fit for your big day DO!
Tip#6 : SELECT FIRST… Choose your hairstyle before you choose your Veil (chuni) Your style should not be too bold or modern unless you really want this. A classic yet modern style is tried and tested and you won't have to worry about looking foolish.
Tip#7: HAIR JEWELRY! For darker lots, it’s a must.  All locks love accessories! Whether simple or not, flowers, diamonds, pearls, headbands, pins, earrings (yes earrings!)…you can use just about anything to add some drama to your hair style.  For Desi Brides, you have more jewelry to select, make sure your tikka’s, bridal bindi, are complimentary to your forehead/hair and not overwhelming on it. Consult your hairstylist for options and suggestions, you won’t be disappointed.
Tip#8:WASH! Don't wash your hair (Unless it gets really oily) on the day of your wedding. You hair is better when it's settled down so try and wash it at least 24 hours before the time of the wedding.
Tip#9: TRESS REHERSAL! Plan your wedding, hairstyle, make up and dress well in advance. These 4 things must all work together and you don't want to find out at the last minute that something conflicts with something else. Bring pictures of styles that you like and try out a couple of styles that work with the shape of your face and features, you will know when it looks like YOU!
Tip#10: EMERGENCY KIT!  Hire an all day “fairy god mother” to ensure every lock is in place and every hair accessory has not moved! If you don’t do this, then make sure you have a hair emergency kit with you. It should have pins and spray and whatever else you need. You probably won't need it, but you will feel better knowing it's there. By the way, don't forget a makeup repair kit. I mean, it is a highly emotional day. Who knows who might tear with joy?
Plan your beauty routine and leave nothing to chance. Make your appointments in advance and the only thing you have to do on your wedding day is have fun and enjoy every moment.

2010 Wedding Trends - From This Year's Wedding Salon

Thank you to the Brides and Grooms that participated in the SouthAsianSource.com Giveaway for the 2010 Wedding Salon tickets. It was a great show, and below are some of the latest trends that we would like to share with you:

Brides are always looking to stay ahead of the trends and discover the ways to add a celebrity touch to their weddings.  We were thrilled to have some of the biggest names in the industry showcase the trends that will be all the rage in the months to come,” says Wedding Salon Founder and renowned Celebrity Event Planner, Tatiana Byron.

Big is Back this Season with over-the-top towering table displays created with branches, moss and garlands of orchids. The Wedding Salon was lit up with 15 ft high Inflatable Bouquets of Roses and Sky-High Cherry Blossom Branches. Cascading chandelier table tops dripping with crystal, proved that height will be the biggest trend for Summer 2010.

Another key trend seen at The Wedding Salon was Candles, Crystals and the combination of the two. Elaborate and Simple table displays alike were accented by numerous tea-light votives, hanging candles and floating candles while crystals lit up the dance floor. As for colors? The common thread at The Wedding Salon was earth-based tones of Greens and Browns on chiffon table linens and napkins, accented with Gold Charger Plates and Goblets.

Closing out The Wedding Salon and Bridal Market were renowned designers, Ines Di Santo, David Tutera by Faviana, Marina K Couture and Stephen Yearick with a couture bridal fashion show produced by Bridal Reflections. This fashion show gave New York brides a never-before seen look at the hottest gowns for Fall 2010. Ines Di Santo showed that the biggest trend for Fall will be the ultra-feminine gown. Complete with floral embellishments, voluminous ball gowns and flirty silhouettes, Ines encourages each bride to embrace her femininity on her big day.

Other new trends that were seen at The Wedding Salon include monograms and engraving on rose petals and amazing fashion for men.  Showing that “Even the Groom Gets Married Too,” Bonobos showcased their custom tuxedos, signature inner linings and colorful unique vintage prints.

What's your skin type? Do you even know?

Article on behalf of Cinderella Bridez:

By Amy Ortiz (Certified Skin Consultant)

The Skin Analyzing Magnifier (S.A.M.) helps us to determine your exact skin type (result image pictured to the left).  There is little to no room for error when diagnosing your skin with this innovative technology.

Is your skin oily, dry, sensitive or combination?

Here are the many types:
·       Oily (you get pretty shiny all over)
·       Combination (you experience a little oiliness here and there in your T-zone but not
everywhere)
·       Dry (you know, parched pretty much all the time)
·       Sensitive (freaks out easily)
·       Normal (not oily, not dry and you usually no major complaints)

Which one best describes your skin type?  Does it change throughout the month?  Does its appearance change with the seasons?  Are you still confused about the whole thing?

Let Cinderella Bridez help you to determine your skin type through S.A.M (Skin Analyzer Magnifier).
S.A.M aids in the discovery of blemishes, congestion under the skin, dehydration and degeneration of the skin that is not readily visible to the naked eye.
Through a magnifying mirror, S.A.M. also enables you to see your own skin problems first hand.  You can also see the progress of improvement with the help of the proper skin care products.   Let us identify the symptoms, design a personalized solution, and combat the underlying issues preventing your skin from appearing flawless.

BRIDE ON THE HUDSON – SHEHNAAI PREVIEWS 2010 COUTURE LINE

BRIDE ON THE HUDSON – SHEHNAAI PREVIEWS 2010 COUTURE LINE

With the blacks and browns of winter ebbing off the racks, and the beginning of a chilly spring showings its colors, its about that time of the year that the spectacular views of Indian Couture make their way to New York. At the tag end of 2009, an unseen platter of colors and styles displayed the quintessential Indian panache at Lakme Fashion Week and Couture Week in India. Palettes unseen for spring, eggplant purples and cobalt blues, splashed across heavy velvets and jeweled monotones made spectacles on the ramp, and on Friday March 5th in New York, spectacles on the rack.

Shehnaai Couture hosted their Bridal Couture season preview at their chic Manhattan studio over Cosmopolitans and Kebabs. 9 of India’s best couturiers joined hands with Stylist and owner, Shirin Vinayak to bring in the new collection for the season, as almost 200 brides and vendors toasted the spirit of the dazzle that outdid all past collections. Significant trends to be seen were trumpet silhouettes and rouched skirts with sleek georgettes and rich velvets, surprisingly enough, complete contradictions, and yet a fabulous combination.

Best of all, every prospective bride, seemed overjoyed by the opportunity to adorn her favorite designer’s ensemble without making the tedious trek to India, and moreover, having it absolutely bespoke, be it color, style, or finish. “The bride today knows what she wants. She has her vision and essentially we bring it to life for her. This was a luxury brides needed to travel to India for but no more. We bring the designer to you…right here in your backyard. The bride today is all about finding the perfect fit and keeping it in time with the current trends in India. So to make that possible, we bring you the latest in couture that walks the ramp in India and then help you customize it so that it suits your personal sensibility” says Vinayak, now a connoisseur in the field for over 7 years. Her style sensibilities and a love for the wedding syndrome have ensured that every one of her brides leaves Shehnaai with the wedding ensemble of her dreams, and a long lasting relationship with the brand.

All About Mehendi - From Bridal Henna Artist

Check out this great article from our latest member - Bridal Henna Artist!

Everything you want to know about Mehendi!

MEHNDI
Henna leaves are green and crushed into powder to make henna paste. Oils, other natural ingredients, and the application of heat can increase the depth of color to dark brown, deep coffee, or a brownish black. Mehndi body art can last one to two weeks or longer.

In India, mehndi is a form of beautification much like makeup or jewelry. While it can be worn routinely, it plays an important role in special occasions, such as weddings. Two days prior to the wedding date, the bride commonly attends a mehndi party thrown by friends. The bride’s hands are decorated from fingertips to elbows, and her feet are also decorated to the knees. Traditionally, the groom’s name is hidden somewhere within the mehndi body art, and he try to find his name for fun.

In my website there are different kinds of design I represent.

Anklet designs - These designs are done around the ankle because during the wedding ceremony, parents wash the feet of both the bride and the groom and the anklet designs ornament the feet.

Arabic designs - Arabic designs are more of a modern design and have no significance behind it. Examples of Arabic designs are flowers, mangos, leaves and any sort of shape and design that comes to the artist mind. This is primarily done for fun and fashion.

Traditional Bridal designs - The primary symbols of a traditional Indian wedding are musical instruments otherwise known as “tabla” and “sharnai” and the coconut, which is used primarily during the wedding ceremony. Bridal designs are traditional designs which are done for the bride prior to the wedding day and the designs incorporate these symbols. Other symbols are peacock, bride and groom and god faces.

Henna Tattoos / Color designs - Color designs are a more modern design and are similar temporary tattoos. People like to do these either on their hands or various parts of the body and can be long elaborate designs or a small tattoo. People will often match these to their outfits. The only downfall of color designs is that some people may have an allergy to the dye and it often pulls the skin when you take it off because of the glue tendency.

Quick Designs - Quick designs are done for henna parties where the artist creates designs that come to their mind and does not reference any book.
